India’s spices exports plunged by 23% to 82,435 tonnes, which valued 824.67 crores during the April- May 2009 as against 106,375 tonnes valued Rs.920.96 crores (223.95 million US $) in April- May 2008.
During April- May 2009, a total quantity of 82,435 tonnes of spices valued Rs.824.67 crores (167.41 million US $) has been exported as against 106,375 tonnes valued Rs.920.96 crores (223.95 million US $) in April- May 2008.
Commodity markets are eagerly awaiting the Union Budget to be presented to Parliament on July 6. Among the proposals from the sector include retaining status quo for customs duty on edible oil and plea for allowing FIIs, mutual funds into Futures trading.
