PUNE (Commodity Online): The weather data released by IMD indicates that maximum temperatures are below normal by 3-6°C over some parts of west Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat region, north Madhya Maharashtra, Punjab, Haryana and by 3-4° C over many parts of Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu.
They are above normal by 6-9° over north Orissa and by 3-5° over Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, north Andhra Pradesh, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal, and remaining parts of Orissa. They are near normal over remaining parts of the country.
The low-pressure area over southeast Arabian Sea and neighbourhood persists.
The numerical weather prediction (NWP) says an upper air trough extends from Comorin area to Konkan coast. Westerly to west-north-westerly winds over plains of northwest India and Indo-Gangetic plains during next 24 hours and northwesterly thereafter with gradual strengthening is seen.
Latest Satellite data indicates that KALPANA–1 Cloud imagery this morning shows convective clouds over parts of southeast Arabian sea, Lakshadweep area, west central Bay of Bengal, south Andaman sea and coastal Karnataka. Low/medium clouds are seen over parts of northwest, central, east, northeast and peninsular India.
Scattered to fairly widespread rainfall likely over peninsular and central India during next 2-3 days while scattered to fairly widespread rainfall activity is likely over northeastern states during next 2 days.
Rise in maximum temperatures by 3-4°C over plains of northwest India is expected during next 3-4 days.
Moderate fog conditions are likely to continue over plains of northwest India during next 2 days, which may intensify thereafter.
