NASHIK : Heavy unseasonal rain and hailstorm caused profound damages to crops of grape, wheat, harbhara and onion in Maharashtra’s Nashik district., according to official reports.
Heavy rains, accompanied by stormy winds, hails and lightning lashed Dindori, Niphad and Sinnar towns of the district.

Grape crop suffered damages in 433 hectares in Girnare, Dugaon, Vadgaon, Dari-Matori, Goverdhan, Gangapur, and Mungsara villages, while wheat and harbhara crops were damaged in 19 and 20 hectares respectively, sources said.
District authorities have pegged the estimated crop damages at Rs 13 crore. However, farmers are claiming it to be around Rs 20-25 crore.
Farmers are also apprehensive about mango crop, expected in the month of May, following the unseasonal rains.
Authorities said following the implementation of the model code of conduct by the Election Commission, the government was unable to provide immediate relief to the farmers, who have suffered losses.
