Benchmark Pepper prices at Kochi were quoted at steady rates amidst regular offtakes in the domestic market on Wednesday.
Pepper Futures December contract traded in sideways to down manner in the beginning of the session but recovered from the earlier losses of the day and settled positively on Wednesday.
According to Vietnam Pepper Association (VPA) carryover stocks of pepper in Vietnam is estimated to around 7,533 tonnes.
US pepper imports in the month of September 2009 from Indonesia were 2,603 tonnes whereas from India, Vietnam and Brazil were 274 tonnes, 888 tonnes and 348 tonnes respectively.
Indian pepper prices in the international market were quoted at $3,350/tonne (c&f) as the rupee remained strong against the dollar whereas Vietnam quoted its 500 GL and 550 GL at $2,750 and$2,850/ tonne (fob).
