European single currency, the euro slipped against the dollar on Thursday as markets awaited the release of jobs data in the United States.
The 16-nation euro bought $1.4115 in early European trading, down from $1.4148 in New York late Wednesday. The British pound also declined, sliding to $1.6434 from $1.6474.

The dollar edged up to 96.62 Japanese yen from 96.52 yen.
The U.S. non-farm payrolls report, being released later Thursday ahead of the Independence Day holiday, was expected to offer new pointers on the state of the economy and could give currency trading new direction.
