Rupee ends higher at 47.19 per dollar

Rupee managed to close higher Thursday mainly after exporters sold dollars to take profit.

At close, the partially convertible rupee was seen trading at 47.19 per dollar, off a day's low of 47.60 per dollar and higher than Wednesday’s close of 47.34 per dollar.

Earlier, the local unit opened lower for the second day in succession, owing to dollar’s better performance against major currencies abroad and weak regional and local stocks.
