Rupee pares early gains in noon trade

Indian rupee maintained a slight lead against the dollar in afternoon trade Thursday mainly on weak local stocks.

The partially convertible rupee was at 47.85 per dollar at 1.00 p.m, slightly up than Tuesday’s close of 47.88 per dollar, but off an early peak of 47.74 per dollar during morning session.

Local stocks turned negative, after opening 0.3 per cent higher.
