Indian rupee pared losses in afternoon trade Thursday as local stocks turned positive.

The partially convertible rupee was seen trading at 47.11 per dollar at 2.30 p.m, compared with Wednesday’s close of 47.05 per dollar.

The rupee was down to 47.25 per dollar in early deals Thursday as the dollar keeps advancing against major currencies abroad.

In the currency futures market the most traded near-month contracts on the MCX-SX and the NSE were both quoting at 47.1875 each, with the total traded volume on the two exchanges at about $2.3 billion.
