Canada September housing starts at 206,000 units beats expectations
ONTARIO (Commodity Online): September housing starts in Canada has been reported at 206,000 units by the Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC)
This beats the market expectations of 187,000 units. August figures stood at 185,000 units."Apartment starts were concentrated in the cities of Vancouver and Richmond, while Surrey led the way in less dense housing types including single detached and town house starts. The City of Vancouver had the second highest number of single family home starts in the region, most of which were replacement housing”, notes Robyn Adamache, CMHC's Senior Market Analyst.
In the Vancouver Census Metropolitan Area, housing starts in September stood at 1783 against the 1644 units in the same month last year.
