CME Group reports that hot-rolled coil Steel futures volume posted a record month in October with 5,021 contracts traded, a 62% increase from September.
The growth was driven by new participants entering the market, the exchange says. The contract was launched in October 2008 and the size is 20 short tons.
Hot-rolled coils are among the major finished Steel products, accounting for some 40% of U.S. sheet steel production.
