MUMBAI (Commodity Online): Maize futures in NCDEX extended uptrend on Tuesday on fresh buying by the traders due to firm domestic demand.
In NCDEX Maize August contract traded in the morning session at Rs.1527 per quintal, higher by 1.05% and open interest of the contract for the time being is 29330 lots.
Bihar maize prices showed improvement and were quoting between Rs.1150 and Rs.1170/quintal.
As per the latest report of the Agriculture Ministry,maize was sown in 21.76 lakh hectares on 13th July against 31.38 lakh hectares last year.
Sowing was reported in 3.39 lakh hectares in Karnataka and 1.16 lakh hectares in Rajasthan, down by 6.63 lakh ha and 7.63 lakh ha respectively.
