MUMBAI (Commodity Online): Castor Seed futures declined Thursday on profit booking by the traders on the back of rising arrivals from the fresh crop amid subdued domestic demand.
In NCDEX castor seed March contract is trading at Rs.3797 per quintal, a decline of 1.82% on 13:40 IST against the previous close.
In the earlier sessions the contract traded at a range of Rs.3752-3852 per quintal. Open interest of the contract so far is 12060 lots and volume traded is 5030 lots.
Total area under Castor crop in India for the year 2011-12 is 11.50 lakh hectares. It has increased by 34% as compared to previous year.
Estimated total production of Castor Seeds in India for the year 2011-12 is 16.19 lakh tonnes. It has increased by 30% as compared to previous year.
