NCDEX chilli ends lower by 1.03% on selling pressure
MUMBAI (Commodity Online):Chilli futures dropped Monday on extended selling pressure on the back of rising fresh arrivals from the Guntur spot market.
In NCDEX chilli February contract closed at Rs.6120 per quintal, higher by 1.03 per cent against the previous close.
In the morning session the contract traded at a range of Rs.6250-6075 per quintal. Open interest of the contract is 2865 lots and volume traded is 1765 lots for the time being.
Higher production estimates due to increased acreage might also pressurize the prices. Andhra Rabi chilli area is reported 0.49 lakh ha as on 11th January v/s 0.43 lakh ha yr ago.
As per data released by Spices board, during Apr-Nov, 2011 chilli export from India were reported down by 24% to 1,32,500 tonnes against the same period last year. As per trade sources, production in coming season is expected to be higher by 20-30% to 12.5-13 lakh tonnes.
