MUMBAI (Commodity Online): Potato futures gained Tuesday on short covering by the traders on the back of firm demand for the ongoing marriage seasons.
In NCDEX potato May contract is trading at Rs.743.90 per quintal, higher by 0.81 per cent on 16:20 IST against the previous close.
In the morning session the contract traded at a range of Rs.732.10-743.90 per quintal. Open interest of the contract is 743 lots and volume traded is 300 lots for the time being.
Low amount of sowing expected in the next season, due to farmers shifting to other crops, because of unfavorable prices this season.
