MUMBAI (Commodity Online): Potato futures rose Monday as traders created fresh positions on the back of firm demand in the physical markets for the ongoing marriage seasons.
In NCDEX potato March contract is trading at Rs.727 per quintal, up by 2.49 per cent on 12:20 IST against the previous close.
In the morning session the contract traded at a range of Rs.704-729 per quintal. Open interest of the contract is 10575 lots and volume traded is 7545 lots for the time being.
Low amount of sowing expected in the next season, due to farmers shifting to other crops, because of unfavorable prices this season.
