MUMBAI (Commodity Online): Chilli futures dropped Friday on profit booking by the traders on the back of poor spot demand amid higher arrivals from the producing regions.
In NCDEX chilli February contract is trading at Rs.6206 per quintal, a decline of 2.14 per cent on 15:00 IST against the previous close.
In the morning session the contract traded at a range of Rs.6140-6296 per quintal. Open interest of the contract is 2705 lots and volume traded is 510 lots for the time being.
Andhra Rabi chilli area is reported 0.53 lakh ha as on 18th January v/s 0.48 lakh ha yr ago. As per data released by Spices board, during Apr-Nov, 2011 chilli export from India were reported down by 24% to 1,32,500 tonnes against the same period last year.
