Pepper futures traded on the NCDEX and NMCE counters moved lower on sluggish export demand due to lower prices in Vietnam, the world's largest producer and exporter.
The prices in Vietnam are still lower due to the harvesting season there. In Vietnam, the world's largest pepper producer and exporter, harvesting starts in March and continues through April.
At 12:47 pm IST, June pepper futures on the NCDEX traded at 1,4564 rupees per quintal, down by Rs 128 or 0.87%.
Pepper for May delivery on the NMCE was trading at 1,4290 per 100 kg, down from Monday’s close of Rs 1,4398.
In Kochi, Kerala, spot price was down by 50 rupees to 14,345 rupees per 100 kg.
