Coriander tumbled due to subdued demand amid marginal increase in daily arrivals in the spot markets. The arrivals in Kota mandi of Rajasthan stood at 5000 bags against 2500 bags on previous day.
Spices Board of India estimated export of coriander to decline by 49 percent to 10500 tonnes with a turnover of 61.65 crores in April-July 2011. The country exported 20600 tonnes of coriander valued at around Rs.74.31 crores same period previous year.
As per IMD report isolated heavy rainfall would occur over Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh; the largest coriander producing states in India.
Unfavorable climatic conditions may decrease the acreage under cultivation. Normally the sowing starts by mid November-December.
