Ventana Gold has reported that drilling has commenced as part of a new programme at its La Bodega property in north-east Colombia, reports World Gold Council.
The scheme will test the down-dip and along-strike extensions of areas of strong mineralisation previously identified in the La Mascota zone, which has previously demonstrated high-grade gold values over widths of 20m to 80m.
Ventana has signed a contract with Terramundo Drilling to initiate the 3,400m diamond core drilling programme and two man-portable drills have now been mobilised.

Richard Warke, chief executive of Ventana, commented: "We have been very encouraged by the high grades and continuity of results at La Bodega and are excited to be launching this next phase of drilling at the La Mascota zone."
Based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Ventana Gold acquired the La Bodega property in 2006 and has since completed 105 holes totalling 25,457m on the prospect.
The company owns the rights to 4,518 hectares of exploration property in Colombia's California-Vetas gold district.
