MUMBAI (Commodity Online): India's sugar production for 2011-12 is likely to be more than 26 million tons, according to the Indian Sugar Mills Association (ISMA).
Earlier, according to the government data, the sugar production of the country was forecast to 24.6-25 million tons.
According to ISMA, after reviewing the sugar production up to January 31, 2012, it is confirmed that India would produce atleast 26 million tons this year, reported PTI.
India is the second largest producer of Sugar and the country's domestic consumption is expected to be around 22 million tons and rest of the quantity is exported.
