NEW YORK : Chicago Board of Trade wheat and soybean futures closed lower succumbing to speculative sales on a combination of bearish market influences.
August soybeans settled 52c lower at $15.21 a bushel, and November soybeans ended 50c weaker at $14.98.
Wheat futures closed lower mainly on spill-over pressure from weakness in other markets September wheat fell 24.50c to $8.0950 a bushel. Kansas City Board of Trade September wheat dropped 22c to $8.3850, and Minneapolis Grain Exchange September wheat lost 14c to $8.80.
Rice crept slightly higher on the CBOT, but traders said activity was very light amid little news.
At ICE Futures US, July arabica coffee settled 3.30c lower at $1.3555 a pound, and October world sugar futures settled 1.07c weaker at 12.71c a pound on sales by funds and speculators.
September cocoa settled $93 lower at $2926 a tonne, and most-active December cotton futures settled S0.72c lower at 73.11c a pound.
