BEIJING: China’s steel consumption is expected to pick up by next near. According to South China Metal Transaction Center in Guangzhou city China will consume 460~470 million tons of crude steel next year.

The export would remain at 62 million tonnes in 2009, it noted. In consideration of the global economic slowdown and international demand shrinkage, steel export of China may hardly rise again in a short period even if the government has eliminated the export tariff on some steel products.
