Coffee now India’s second most popular beverage

BENGALURU (Commodity Online) : Following reports of increase in India’s coffee consumption, a survey by the Coffee Board said the beverage replaced milk as the second most popular beverage after tea.
According to the survey on consumption, attitudes and trends, coffee was consumed daily by 31% of India's population in 2008, compared with 23% in 2005.

About 23% of India's population drank instant coffee daily in 2008, up from 15% in 2005, and 8% filter coffee, up from 7% in 2005. Per capita consumption in 2008 was 82 gram.
Coffee consumption grew at 5.86% annually in last eight years.
