MUMBAI: Food processing can do for rural India what information technology (IT) could do for urban India, according to Mr Piruz Khambatta, Chairman and Managing Director of Rasna Pvt Ltd and Chairman of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) National Committee on Food Processing.
The second International Exhibition, Food and Bev Tech 2008 is being organized from 13-15th November, 2008. Mr Khambatta said that the1st edition was hailed as India�s first ever focused technology show for the Food & Beverage Processing Industry.
Food & Bev Tech 2008, International Exhibition, has received an overwhelming response from leading National companies ie Blue Star, HRS Process, Rinac, Testo, FMC Technologies , Goma Engineering, Srujann, Siemens, ABB, Pennwalt Ltd, Ruchi Soya, Beri Cap, Perks Engineering, Domino Print Tech, Frick India, to name a few along with Pavilions from Italy and South East Asian Countries.
The food processors must give thrust on improved technology to ensure health food and food supplements to meet the changing consumer demands globally.
Processed efficiency in food industry could be achieved by incorporating advanced technologies that lower unit cost and improve over all product quality, contributing to higher profits.
The food processing industries should make major strides from traditional to modern technologies for processing agricultural products. With globalisation of economy the country is now obliged to meet international safety and quality standards to survive in the global market. The future development of the food processing industries would depend on technological progress and energy efficiency.
It is high time that India applied better technologies to prolong the shelf life of vegetables and fruits and improve the packaging machinery and cold storage system to facilitate better processing of our agricultural products, Khambatta said.
