Indian diamonds to glitter in Chinese market

MUMBAI (Commodity Online): After the stupendous success of the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC)'s previous editions of Indo–China Buyer-Seller Meet (BSM) in Shanghai in the year 2007 and Shenzhen in the year 2008, the Council has planned to organize the third edition in Beijing from 9-11 November, 2009.

Considering the success that the two earlier BSMs had achieved, it was envisaged that there is a need of organizing more such BSMs to cater to the ever-growing Chinese diamond industry. Also, based on the visit of the GJEPC delegation to Shanghai during May 2009, it was realized that China has a huge demand for loose diamonds and colour gemstones and hence it is seen as a huge opportunity for members to increase their database of Chinese buyers and build-up the country's exports to China.

As done in previous two editions, Shanghai Diamond Exchange (SDE) is likely to extend duty-free import upto Beijing which further encouraged the Council to organize the upcoming third edition in Beijing. Also, the China International Jewellery Fair is scheduled in Beijing from 5-8 November, 2009, which would attract buyers from other parts of China to stay back during the BSM.

The first edition of the BSM held at Shanghai (3-5 December, 2007) was attended by 250 Chinese diamond buyers and the second edition held in Shenzhen (23-25 September, 2008) attracted 197 Chinese buyers. Both the earlier BSM's were of great success and well appreciated by the Chinese and Indian counterparts.

The names of Indian participants include Ankit Gems, Asian Star Co Ltd, Interjewel Pvt Ltd, Laxmi Diamonds Pvt Ltd, Revashankar Gems Ltd, Super Gems, Rare Jewels, Munjani Brothers, R N Exports, Nikita Diamonds, Kala Gems & Co.(Jaipur) and C. Mahendra Exports Ltd.
MCX COTTON 29 mm 31 May 2012 contract was trading at Rs 18750 , down Rs. -130 . What's your view on it?
