MCX starts wheat, turmeric futures contracts

NEW DELHI (Commodity Online ) : As part of its widening process, India’s leading commodity exchange, MCX, on Wednesday launched futures contracts in four more farm commodities.
In a circular issued here MCX said they launched futures contracts in wheat, chana, guarseed and turmeric.

The turmeric contract is available for November delivery, chana for January 2010, guarseed and wheat for February 2010 delivery.
But the trading interest in the most-active contracts of the four items remained positive, the exchange data showed. The most-active wheat contract for November delivery was trading up by 0.25 per cent at Rs 1,322 a quintal.
Chana and guarseed contracts for the same month delivery were also ruling up at Rs 2,358 a quintal and Rs 2,410 a quintal.
MCX, where metals and energy futures are largely traded, made a business of Rs 2,86,441 crore in the first fortnight of September.
