ABERDEEN, UK: Thomas Thune Andersen, CEO of Maersk Oil will assume the responsibility of Chairman for Offshore Europe 2009.
Offshore Europe is the largest upstream oil and gas event outside North America, held every two years in Europe’s energy capital of Aberdeen. OE 2009 is set to build upon the unprecedented success of the 2007 event, which achieved a record attendance figure and featured 1,455 exhibiting companies.
Andersen said that “The oil and gas industry has reached a crossroads. Choices need to be debated and decisions need to be taken so the industry is prepared structurally and technically for the future. I am honoured to chair Offshore Europe 2009 at this time when the industry’s response to issues such as sustainability and meeting global demands has never been more important.”
Currently based in Copenhagen, Mr Andersen is a Partner of the A.P. Moller – Maersk Group and is Director or Chairman of a number of companies within the A.P. Moller - Maersk Group.
The 2009 theme is ‘Energy At A Crossroads – Making Choices’, with each day featuring panel sessions focusing on key issues of: Climate Change; Operating Models at the Crossroads; Breakthrough Technologies; Globalisation of the Talent Pool and Education.
