NTPC registers 5.87% growth for first quarter

NTPC Limited, India’s largest power generating company has achieved a total income of Rs.10,256.70 crore for the first quarter of current fiscal as compared to Rs.9687.84 crore reported in the corresponding quarter of the previous year, growth of 5.87 percent.

According to Finance Ministry’s release, the Company has declared Net Sales of Rs 9539.47 crore during first quarter of 2008-09 as against Rs. 8958.81 crore during first quarter of 2007-08 registering an increase of 6.48 percent.

The profit after tax for the quarter is Rs.1,726.53 crore as compared to profit after tax of Rs.2,369.93 crore reported in the corresponding quarter in the previous year. Adjusted profit after tax is Rs 1858.01 crore as against adjusted profit of Rs. 1764.89 crore for first quarter of 2007-08, an increase of 5.28 percent after providing for incentive and keeping provision for wage revision and others (one off items).

The company has total installed capacity of 29,394 MW through 26 power stations including joint ventures. The Company currently has 16,680 MW under construction and aims to become 50,000 MW by 2012.
