Petrobas 10000 to drill for energy at Angola offshore

BRASILIA (Commodity Online): Brazil’s energy major Petrobas will conduct energy drilling at Angola offshore with Petrobras 10000 ultra deep water drill ship.

Transocean, which built the vessel, said the drilling contract is for 10 years. It has an agreement with the P&M Drilling International BV joint venture of Petrobras and Mitsui to acquire the rig under a 20-year capital lease contract.

The Petrobras 10000 is among 21 ultra deep water floaters in the Transocean fleet and can operate in more than 10,000 ft of water. Trade commodities or equities from across the globe. Join Now

It features Transocean's dual-activity drilling technology, allowing for parallel drilling operations. Other features include expanded completions capabilities and a variable deck load of more than 20,000 tonnes.

The government is said to be considering a regulation which would make it mandatory for all oil companies to sell diesel with 20% blend of bio-diesel for retail market by the year 2017. But looking at the pace of development on the R&D and investment front, only a marginal part of the fixed percentage seems to be achievable. The blame goes to sluggish approach of the government to attract required investments for projects.
