RBI introduces new ferric stainless steel coins

MUMBAI: The Reserve Bank of India is introducing a New Ferritic Stainless
Steel (FSS) coins of rupees five issued by the Government of India to commemorate the occasion of "75 Years of Dandi March".
Ferric stainless steel coin contains 82 percent iron and 18 percent chromium. The reverse side of the coin shall bear the portrait of "MAHATMA GANDHI MARCHING".The obverse face of the coin shall bear the Lion Capital of Ashoka Pillar with the legend, Satyameva Jayate.
The Reserve Bank of India will shortly put into circulation new Ferritic Stainless
Steel coins of Rs.5 issued by Government of India to commemorate "Mahatma Basaveswara".
The coins are circular with 23 mm diameter with security edges and weighs 6 grams. RBI said that existing five rupee coins and notes will continue to be legal tender.
