Commodity Online RIYADH: Saudi Arabia has discovered five new oil and gas fields in Eastern Province of the country, said the country's Petroleum and Mineral Resources Minister Ali Al-Naimi.
Four of the five oil fields, named as Jaouf-II, Ramthan-IX, Nayashin-I, Jareed-101 and Khorsaniya-114 were found in the mainland while the fifth was discovered in a waterlogged region of the province.
"The Jaouf-II well is located 300 km northwest of Dhahran and can produce 2,551 barrels of oil and 1.2 million cubic feet of gas daily," Al-Naimi said. The Ramthan-IX well is situated 400 km northwest of Dhahran while Nayashin-I is located 60km northwest of Ramthan.
The oil giant 'Saudi Aramco' found Jareed-101 in Arabian Gulf waters, about 130km north of Dhahran and Khorsaniya-114 about 138 km northwest of the city. Al-Naimi said the gas fields were found in waterlogged areas along the Arabian Gulf and named them as Arabiya-I, Rabeeb-I and Hasba-16.
