Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex closed trading Tuesday in the red mainly due to heavy selling as it tumbled to 13,349.65,down by 176.34.

The wide-based National Stock Exchange index's Nifty also lost 41.45 points to 3,988.55.
