In Maharashtra and Karnataka sugar cane crushing usuall starts from the middle of October. But this year, it could be delayed by 10-15 days while in Andhra Pradesh, the rains will not make much of a difference as the state is having a very poor cane crop and in any case will not be crushing cane before November-end.

Similar trend was also seen in Maharashtra as the heavy rains affected sugar cane in Kolhapur in Maharashtra and also in parts of southern Karnataka.
