Vietnam coffee exports hit 8,93,000 tons

HANOI (Commodity Online) : Vietnam’s coffee export reached 893,000 tones worth over $1.3 billion during the first nine months of 2009.

In a report issued here Vietnam’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) said in September alone, the figure was 54,000 tones and $76 million.

Compared with the same period of 2008, the coffee export declined 16.8 percent in output and 18 percent in value because of the sharp reduction in export prices.

The biggest coffee importers of Vietnam are Belgium accounting for 13.82 percent and Germany 11.06 percent

The government is said to be considering a regulation which would make it mandatory for all oil companies to sell diesel with 20% blend of bio-diesel for retail market by the year 2017. But looking at the pace of development on the R&D and investment front, only a marginal part of the fixed percentage seems to be achievable. The blame goes to sluggish approach of the government to attract required investments for projects.
