The largest import markets of Vietnam-made pepper in Sep are Germany of 1,349 tones; Arabia of 1,217 tones; The US of 1,017 tones; the Netherlands of 481 tones and Russia of 422 tones.

Therefore, the accumulative pepper volume that Vietnam has exported in the first nine months of this year was about 104,786 tonnes, in which 87,838 tonnes were black pepper and 16,948 tonnes of white pepper, increasing by 33,743 tonnes or 47 percent in comparison with the same period of last year.

The total Jan-Sep export turnover was estimated at $256 million, in which $198 million was for black pepper and $58 million of white pepper. Despite the high increase in export volume, the gained turnover was only up 2.5 percent year-on-year, due to the low rise in export price.

According to the evaluation of Vietnam Pepper Association, up to the end of Sep 2009, Vietnam has already exported over 104,000 tonnes of pepper, while the expected production output was at about 105,000 tonnes, which means Vietnam has only about 1,000 tonnes of pepper at present.

Vietnam's pepper export volume has sharply increased recently because of various reasons. One of the reasons was that some major pepper exporters in International Pepper Community (IPC) suffer from low production output against last year's while increasing in Vietnam, leading to the best export price for Vietnamese enterprises.

It's said that the Vietnam's pepper export price is posted by $300-500 lower than that offered by other pepper exporting countries, that makes it easier for the domestic enterprises to trade with the importers.

In addition, Vietnamese firms export pepper under the method of "quick buying, quick selling" in order to facilitate the circulation of working capital.
