HANOI (Commodity Online) : Vietnam Pepper Association on Thursday said country’s pepper exports totaled 111,110 tones and fetched a value of $269 million in the first nine months of the year.
According to the report, exports recorded an increase of 53.8 percent in volume and 6.3 percent in value compared to the same period last year.

In September, export volume slowed to 14,000 tones, although export value reached $38 million, an increase of $1 million over August's figures, the association said.
Pepper prices in September stood at about $2,400 per tone, higher than earlier this year but still about 32 percent lower than the average price in 2008.
Exports to the US during the period had risen by 23.35 percent, while turnover rose by a more modest 4,76 percent. Exports to Germany, meanwhile, more than doubled in volume and grew by 20.8 percent in value.
The pepper yield was over 100,000 tones, which is 5 percent higher than in 2008, said the report.
