Aditya Birla to ink 2,500-cr MoUs with Gujarat govt
AHMEDABAD (CommodityOnline) - The Vibrant Gujarat summit 2007 (January 12-14) in Ahmedabad will see the Aditya Birla Group of companies, under the leadership of Kumar Mangalam Birla, signing three memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with the state government for a total investment of Rs 2,500 crore.
According to sources, the MoUs will include an investment of Rs 700-800 crore in a greenfield fibre plant at Bharuch, Rs 1,000 crore in the cement sector and another Rs 700-800 crore in copper segment. The existing fibre plant will also be expanded with a cost of Rs 400 crore.
Group company Hindalco Industries Ltd plans an investment of about Rs 800 crore for setting up a 60-MW captive power project, DAP & PAP plants, associated activities and expansion of captive jetty capacity from 5 million TPA to 10 million TPA.
