Aug car sales up 33% in India: Festivals eyed
NEW DELHI (Commodity Online): The central body of Indian automobile makers today announced that domestic passenger car sales saw record rise during the month of August, 2010.
The statistics provided by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) revealed that the domestic car sales grew 33.24% to 1,60,794 units in August against 1,20,681 units in the same month last year.
Experts anticipate further boost to the automobile sales in India mainly on account of festive season.
Meanwhile, motorcycle sales in the country during the month rose 19.04% to 7,27,542 units from 6,11,168 units in the corresponding period last year.
The SIAM figures showed that total two-wheeler sales in August was up 23.24% to 9,57,304 units from 7,76,772 units in August 2009.
However, the total sales of vehicles across all the categories had registered a growth of 25.24% to 12,63,293 units in August as against 10,08,712 units in the same month last year.
