Bangkok Gems & Jewellery Fair from Sept 19
BANGKOK (Commodity Online): Bangkok will host the 44th gems & jewellery fair to be opened on September 19 at Bangkok’s Muang Thong Thani.
This year’s concept is ‘Variety of Gems’. The 44th Bangkok Gems & Jewelry Fair, which is jointly organized by the Thai Gem & Jewelry Traders Association and the Department of Export Promotion, is one of the top five gem and jewelry trade show in the world.
The Bangkok Fair, which have featured some 1,300 exhibitors both from Thailand and around the world, are displaying diamonds, precious and semi precious gemstones, pearls, synthetic stones, gold, silver and platinum jewelry in all price points.
The 100,000-square-meter Challenger Hall of Muang Thong Thani is capable of welcoming over 35,000 visitors in the next five days.
Meanwhile, the long-awaited Zero Vat legislation, which is due to be announced soon in the Royal Gazette, is the first step to promoting Thailand as a world gem and jewelry hub.
The Bangkok Fair organizers, which co-operate with embassies from various rough producing countries, have created a specially-dedicated Zero Vat pavilion for rough gemstones from around the world.
Hence, the Zero Vat pavilion will give Thai lapidaries access to rough supplies, which had dwindled somewhat recently.
Moreover, with the success of this stage the Zero Vat program will eventually be extended to cut gemstones, finished jewelry diamonds and some others.
This event will hopefully enhance the country's attempt to assume the premier place in the global industry.
