BBA says India's Nov gold imports at 35-40 tones
Commodity Online
MUMBAI : Bombay Bullion Association on Tuesday said India’s gold imports for November estimated at 35-40 metric tons, down by 54 tons from same period last year.
Speaking to reporters here BBA President Suresh Hundia said, "Imports were lower as high prices deterred purchases by consumers in the local markets".
Silver imports during the month were estimated at 200-250 tons, down from around 300 tons in October and the rupee was also weak against the dollar, pushing up the cost of imports, he said.
The Mumbai bullion market, the largest in the country, has been mostly closed in the last 4-5 days because of terrorist attacks on the city, affecting demand further.
