Chile copper production soars by 9.8%
SANTIAGO (Commodity Online): Copper output in Chile, the world’s number one producer, jumped by 9.8 per cent in October from the same month last year.
The country produced 496217 tonne of copper in the month compared with 451979 t in October of last year.
In the first 10 months of the year, copper production was barely changed from a year earlier at 4,44-million tonnes.
Molybdenum production in October jumped 11.9% to 3 214 tonnes and rose 6,3 per cent in the 10-month period to 29 236 tonnes.
Chile’s copper output rose 8.5 per cent in September from the same month in 2008.
Recent copper trading activity suggests the market views dips as an opportunity to buy in.
