China crude oil, coal imports rise in October
BEIJING (Commodity Online) : China’s General Administration of Customs on Tuesday said country’s crude oil and coal imports increased in October.
In a report issued here, the GAC said China imported 19.30 million tons of crude oil at an average rate of 4.56 million barrels per day in October, 20% more than in the corresponding month of last year.
During the period from January to October, crude oil imports rose 9.4% year on year to 165 million tons or 3.97 million barrels per day.
China produced 16.25 million tons of crude oil in October, 1.8% less than in the corresponding month of last year.
In the first ten months of this year, crude oil output declined 0.5% year on year, totaling 157.94 million tons. In the first ten months, refined oil imports declined 6.6% year on year and totaled 31.28 million tons.
China imported 433,946 tons of liquefied natural gas in October, 69% more than last October. China imported 11,438 tons of coke in October, much more than last October.
The figure was more than triple the imports in the same month of last year, due to increasing demand.
China exported 2.05 million tons of coal in October. The October coal exports reflect a 50.6% sharp year-on-year decrease from 3.83 million tons exported in October 2008.
Reportedly, China's coal exports saw a substantial monthly decrease of more than 50% on average in the first nine months of this year.
