China imports 65% more iron ore in Sep
BEIJING (Commodity Online) : China’s General Administration of Customs said country imported 64.55 million tons of iron ore in September, 65% more than last September.
According to statistics released by the GAC, the September figure reflects a 30% rise compared with the 49.68 million tons the country imported in August.
In the first nine months of this year, the nation's iron ore imports were 469.4 million tons in total, 36% more than in the same period of last year.
In September, China exported 2.47 million tons of steel products, an 18.75% increase compared with the 2.08 million tons exported in August. Steel imports last months were 1.91 million tons, up 20.13% from 1.59 million tons in August.
In the first three quarters of this year, China's steel exports plunged 68% year on year to 15.7 million tons, while steel imports grew 8.6% from a year earlier to 13.4 million tons.
