China imports more edible oil, oil seeds in Jan
BEIJING (Commodity Online) : China’s Agriculture Ministry said country’s oil seeds imports hit 4.27 million tons in January this year, up 32.2% from the same month of last year.
The total value of oilseeds imports amounted to $2.02 billion in January, 57.3% more than a year ago.
However, the value of oilseeds exports increased 12.3% year on year to $115 million, with 90,000 tons of oilseeds exported.
The country imported 656,000 tons of edible vegetable oil during the month, surging 83.2% year on year.
The value of edible vegetable oils imported totaled $510 million, up 168.4% from a year ago.
However, the export value of edible vegetable oil during the period fell 45% year on year to 5,000 tons.
In January, the import and export value of China's farm produce jumped 51% from the same month of last year to $9.23 billion, accounting for 4.5% of China's total import and export value in the month.
