BEIJING (Commodity Online): China plans to enhance the involvement of science and technology in agriculture to boost production and food security.
The country also aims to improve the income of the farmers through increase in production.
According to this year's No 1 document issued by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the State Council, the development of agricultural technologies to boost production and safety is the main point, reported China Daily.
The country is likely to boost the drought resistant and flood resistant seeds for higher production of agri-products. For the first time in 16 years, China's output of all major agricultural products has increased in 2011.
China will also quicken the pace of constructing water-conservation facilities, treat rivers and lakes, strengthen reservoirs, prevent geological disasters and also plans to increase the areas that have access to irrigation.
