KOCHI (Commodity Online): The interest towards coconut farming is growing in the non-traditional and North Eastern Indian states, according to India's Coconut Development Board (CDB).
In Odisha and West Bengal, more farmers are turning to coconut cultivation.
Meanwhile, CDB has sought India to allocate Rs 2,600 cr for the 12th Five year plan to develop the industry and enhance it domestic and global presence.
During the 11th Five year plan, the CDB had been allocated Rs 395 cr.
The CDB plans to promote value added products items in the global market and also to increase its export of coconut and its by-products.
