BEIJING (Commodity Online): Crude oil imports by China for 2012 may grow at the slowest pace in 6 years, as per a report published by the state-owned China National Petroleum Corp (CNPC). China is the second largest importer of crude oil in the world.
In 2011, oil imports had grown by only 6% compared to 17.5% in 2010 and 13.9% in 2009, as per data by the General Administration of Customs.
Natural gas imports, on the contrary, may grow by 45% to more than 45 billion cubic meters and domestic production may reach 110 billion, CNPC states. Gas demand is projected to account for about 5% of total Chinese energy demand.
