Drought hammers apple production in Himachal
Commodity Online SHIMLA: Apple production in Himachal Pradesh is hammered with the heat that is hovering nearly 30 degree Celsius in the hills as the monsoon rain is yet to reach the queen of hills.
Almost 25% of the crops were damaged so far due to the high heat amid inefficient rain, said an Industrial official.
At present, the low and middle hills apple cultivation is suffering from the heat and if the monsoon fails to arrive in the region by next week, the crops in the upper hills would be affected, said an analyst.
The hill state known for its cool climes is witnessing hot conditions presently. Temperature is hovering around 30 degree Celsius in the queen of hills in the month of June as compared to 24-25 degrees in previous years.
