NEW DELHI (Commodity Online): Global coffee exports in the calendar year 2011 is estimated to be $23.5 billion for a total volume of 102.4 million bags, a rise of almost 41% compared to $16.7 billion for a volume of 96.8 million bags in 2010, according to International Coffee Organisation (ICO).
According to Coffee Board, the total global trade accounts for around $120 billion annually.
The Board expects the production to rise to 321,000 tonnes in 2011-12 crop year against 301,000 tonnes in 2010-11 coffee year (October-September).
India acounts for 2 % of the total area under coffee globally and produces around 4% of the world output.
Coffee is the one of the most traded commodity globally after petrol.
On Inter Continental Exchange (ICE), the commodity for March delivery traded down 0.3% to 219.20 cents on 21st December at 14:36 IST
