Global natural rubber production to decline on weather

MUMBAI (Commodity Online): Global natural rubber (NR) supply is expected to remain tight due to decline in production on wintering and dry season in major rubber growing regions, according Sheela Thomas, Chairperson of Rubber Board.


The major growing areas include Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, and India.


In India, NR demand is strong on expected economic growth.


The domestic NR produced is fully consumed in the country itself. India's Production and consumption of NR for the year 2011-12 are projected at 902,000 tons and 966,000 tons.


Meanwhile, the production and consumption of NR in 2012-13 are projected at 942,000 tons and 1006,000 tons.


For February delivery, in Tokyo Commodity Exchange (tocom), NR traded at 297.5 yen per Kg and in National Multi Commodity Exchange (NMCE), traded at Rs 19,149 per ton on 4th February.
